KansasBardFor those of you whom I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting in real life, let me give you a brief rundown of who I am and why I do what I do. That is to say, why I’m blogging at all (even if infrequently).

I am a copywriter for a digital marketing agency in Kansas. Of course, it’s only part of who I am. People who define themselves solely by their careers are only slightly less scary than people who introduce themselves as their World of Warcraft character. (“Hi, I’m Thursgard, a level 72 dwarf paladin.”)

Though I am a copywriter for a living, I am also a failed undiscovered novelist (one book written, still unpublished) and a fair poet (several published in the university literary magazine). I hope to publish both a novel and a book of poetry some day.

I should also point out that I have a genetic disorder called osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bones). If you’ve seen the M. Night Shyamalan film Unbreakable, you might recognize it. It’s the same condition shared by Samuel L. Jackson’s character, Elijah Price. (“They called me Mr. Glass.”) While I have outgrown most of the effects of O.I., I shall not be skydiving anytime soon.

Although O.I. greatly affects some pieces of my life, the disorder does not define it. Yes, I am in a wheelchair, but my wife thinks that’s just because I’m lazy. I consider my life to be relatively normal, with all the ups and downs any American experiences in these turbulent times. In short, aside from the wheelchair, I’m an average person.

So, if I’m such an average person (I hear you say), why should you bother reading my blog? Well, if you read this far, either a) I begged you to read it, b) I paid you to read it, or c) you found it mildly interesting and well written. All I can say is that there is more to come, hopefully in greater frequency.

Perhaps you were lured here by the title of my blog. Or maybe you followed a link on Twitter. Maybe you’re reading this in Facebook. However you came to read this, I hope you find it to your liking.
